Foundations are the Base of Your Home

Foundations for homes; there are generally 3 different options you can choose for your home.  Depending on what your purposes for the areas of your home will determine which one you want.  In some cases you may want a combo as shown in this example.

The first one we will discuss is the Basement foundation.  This is the one you want if a basement under your home whether for living space, storage, or simply a safe place to be in the event of bad weather.  Some people like a finished basements that they can turn into a rec room, a family room or even an additional bedroom.  It is very important that this foundation is installed with the proper strength and that it is waterproof.  The last thing you want is to find you beautiful new rec room has become a smelly pool! 

The next foundation is the Crawl Space.  These foundations are usually above the ground just a few feet. They are created to make handling the operations of the home a little easier to access.  This particular type of foundation generally has a vapor barrier to let you access it and stay at least a little drier. 

The final one we will talk about today is the Concrete Slab.  This type of foundation is poured directly on the ground.  There is no accessible space under it.  This is often the lowest cost type of foundation. However, based upon your needs in your home it may not be right choice for you.
